Finally I’ve a little time to write about the conference I’ve attended this month. It was Microsoft Technology Summit in Warsaw, Poland. It was a bunch of lectures about current IT stuff. I’ve been on almost all lectures about Active Directory service in which I’m very interested. They were great, especially one given by Tomasz Onyszko. This guy is awesome and really knows his work. There was also a tremendous duet, John and Sally, they’re born to giving lectures.
From now on I’m adding second name to my list of favorite writers. First is of course Stephen King. And now second is Kurt Vonnegut. I’ve read Slaughterhouse-Five and I was amazed. Now I’m reading Cat’s Cradle and I know that this is it. This guy is talking to me. My language. My type of thinking. Wow! Unfortunately Mr. Vonnegut died in 2007 so he would not give me new masterpieces.
I was so overworked that I forgot to write that I had a very short vacation this year. And yes, I was in Hungary. I’ve seen the most beatiful lake in the world, Balaton. But weather was awful so I haven’t been in the water:( I was also in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. And I must say wow! It’s the most beatiful city I’ve ever seen. The feel when you’re walking on these very tight streets, it’s underscriptable.
Next episode of my music discoveries. This time I’ve discovered Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden. It’s good, very good. I like it. As a big horror fan I had funny feeling when guy was singing “I have a constant feel that something’s always here”:) I like my last.fm subscription and I think I’m gonna keep it. There is still so much music to listen to. Oh, and this is not my favorite kind of music.
I’ve seen the last lecture of Randy Pausch “Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”. And only one thing I can say right now is wow. This guy was amazing (was, because unfortunately he died on 26th of July this year, RIP). I wish I had such professor when I was at university doing my MA. He was quite a guy, with power and energy, and he was very good with people I believe.
It’s shame to admit, but I’ve just discovered Deep Purple. It’s shame because I should have discovered this band a long time ago. The first track of Purples I’ve heard was When a Blind Man Cries and it was stunning. It’s so f*** awesome! Thanks last.fm for letting me discover and listen to it. I’m now the owner of the last.fm subscription, so there would be more interesting music discoveries in the short future, I hope.
Some time ago I’ve mentioned that I’m going to start writing posts about Czech cuisine. Well, I didn’t forgot about it. But there is someone who is already doing that and is doing it good. So there is no place for me I believe:( Check this amazing blog of American guy who lives in Prague and is writing about food (not only Czech): Czech Please
