Can't turn on mobile data? (Android 4.2, solution)

I’ve switched to Android 4.2 recently and noticed one quite annoying problem. I’m using Taskerto switch mobile data on only periodically in order to allow phone to download emails, weather info and other stuff. For majority of time when phone is in my pocket data services are off. It saves a lot of juice from my battery. And it’s working quite fine actually, or was working on Android 4.1. On 4.

This is the way to promote!

Everybody who is interested in Android world probably knows about it already, but I’ve decided to write about it as well. Android Markethas big promotion going on right now. It’s 10 days of offers with Premium Appsfor 90% less. In practice all apps are for 0.10 $ each:) And each day you have 10 new apps added! I’ve already bought SwiftKey X Keyboardand Read It Later Pro, and I believe it’s not the end of my shopping spree:)

Maybe you'll save some money (ezPDF Reader)

Recently I’ve bought ezPDF Readeras I was pretty frustrated with the way Adobe Reader is navigating through PDFs. I’ve bought full version, because I’ve thought why not. It’s cool to add some notes from time to time and it’s not so much more expensive than Lite version. There is one glitch however. When I’m opening PDF which was scanned (not created from real text) in Adobe Reader and zooming it, reader is trying (and usually succeeds) to smooth the text.

Motorola has lame software update process

I’m happy owner of Motorola Defy Android phone. It’s great, the best phone after IPhone I’ve ever had. I like almost everything in it, but definitely not Motorola Software Update. It’s software for updating phone’s system. I know that there is such option in phone itself, but for unknown reason it can’t connect with update server. So I’ve downloaded special software for my PC to update my phone from it. Usage is simple, launch the app, connect your phone to PC via USB, click next to check for the updates.

Android, locale and timezone

Strange thing with locale on Android. If it’s set to US English it would display date in your calendar widget using US timezone, even if there is correct date set in the system and you’re in European network with automatic update enabled. Switch to UK English helped to solve it, but it’s really weird. Maybe it’s just this particular widget, as when I’ve accessed calendar I was able to see the correct date.
